Our Story

Classic Underwear was born from a simple observation: the best men's underwear ever made stopped being produced decades ago. Browsing eBay, we noticed collectors paying serious money for original 1960s and 1970s stock — Hanes Y-fronts and A-fronts that simply couldn't be found new anywhere. We decided to do something about it.

In 2016, we opened a small workshop in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania, where a dedicated team of skilled craftspeople began hand-making premium men's briefs inspired by those classic vintage designs. Our double-seat briefs — a style virtually unique in today's market — quickly found a loyal following among men who value quality, comfort, and craftsmanship over fast fashion.

A Setback, and a Return

Like many small businesses, we were hit hard by the pandemic. We lost our original manufacturer — a deeply felt loss — and reluctantly closed our doors. But the demand never went away. Our customers kept reaching out, and in late 2025 we reopened with a new team, the same commitment to quality, and the same classic designs that made us who we are.

Who We Are

We're a British-founded, Romania-based workshop. Our founder has lived in Romania for over 20 years and built Classic Underwear from the ground up with a small, passionate team. Every pair of briefs is hand-made to order — no mass production, no shortcuts.

We've sold successfully on Etsy with excellent customer reviews, and we're proud of the loyal community of customers who have supported us for years. Now, through our own store, we're able to offer our full range directly to you.
